I have a classroom full of 21 five and six year olds. They are spunky, caring, energetic and always ready to learn. They are hard working and learn like little sponges. They are eager to please and want nothing more than to see their teacher smile.
The students in this class come from a Title I school in a low income neighborhood.
Parents do the best that they can for their children but cannot provide everything that may be needed in the classroom.
My Project
Kindergarten is easily distracted and hard to keep on task. These new materials will help keep the students engaged in the classroom library. They will be able to feel like they have left the classroom and entered a circus! Keeping littles engaged is hard unless there is something of interest to them.
Reading is vital in all grades but kindergarten builds the love of reading.
I would love to create a sense of fun with reading for them to carry throughout their life that have they built in my kindergarten class. A fun circus classroom library could do just that.
