My students need a variety of books, such as Arthur' Baby. They also need take home book-bags so they can take these books home to share.

My Students

Books are an important part of a child's development. Imagine how much they would enjoy to be able to bring a book home each week to read with their families.

My students are wonderful 1st graders in a title one school.

The majority of my students come from low income families, where they don't always have educational materials accessible to them. They are students who love to learn, and love to read, and I want them to be able to bring that excitement home with them every day.

My Project

I plan to make "Take it home" bag books with activities to go along with specific stories. I think the children need to get excited about reading and by being able to bring these bags home, I think that will bring the excitement back. The students will also see that reading isn't just about words, but we can complete activities to go along with our books to help us learn more about a certain topic.

Anyone who has ever worked with a child in reading would know that comprehension and retelling is one of the most difficult things for most children to learn.

By being able to send home books with activities, the students will be able to enhance their comprehension and retelling strategies.
