Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These books will help provide learning opportunities for many students at my school. We are a Title I school and many of our students are from migrant/immigrant families who do not always have the same access to resources as other students might. My students are required to silent read books of their choice for their "Knight Time" class and for my students who are emergent in their English skills, or new to the United States, we do our best to provide books in Spanish.

With your donations you will be help provide the opertuity for our our new comers to built their literacy skills with books in Spanish and graphic novels in English, many of which can be difficult for teachers to provide with the classroom budget.

We have learned that if you can build a students literacy skills in their native language, that the transition and aquisihion of Engish is easier, more fluid, and stronger.
