Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a very lucky librarian! I have the best students in the world! My students are kind, loving, responsible, and eager to learn. Every morning they brighten my day by greeting me in the halls of our school. I love seeing their smiling faces light up when they walk into the library!
I am fortunate to be an educator at a school with students and teachers of diverse backgrounds that are celebrated and appreciated.
My school family is welcome and open-minded. We create a culture of understanding and kindness on our campus. My students teach me every day what it means to be a friend to others!
My Project
On my campus, we have an amazing mix of cultures and languages. We have a large number of native Spanish speakers and English language learners. Our students that prefer to read in Spanish, or are on their journey of learning to read in English need books they can enjoy developing their literacy and their love of reading.
We need books in Spanish in our library to support our native Spanish speakers.
A student should not be barred from enjoying a book because of a language barrier. All students have the right to not only read books for education but also to read books for joy.
