My Project
My students walk into our school library with excitement in their eyes. They can't wait to be able to let their imagination go wild in the library and our Makerspace. You can see students taking apart and putting together computers, designing 3-D models, constructing structures, learning about circuitry, or playing board games. You will also see students curled up in the corner reading a book or asking me for a new book for them to read. It always puts a smile on my face when they come back to me, after reading a book, to tell me how much they loved a book.
This project will help provide our library with a more diverse collection, including books with minority main characters, books about science, manga books, and some mystery books that will keep them guessing.
One of my favorite books in this project is A Rover's Story. It is all about the Mars Rover from the Rover's perspective. It is such a cute and heartwarming story of adversity and finding yourself. This project will also provide us with color paper and power cords to use for our STEM projects. The cords will allow us to keep our iPads charged, as well as all of our coding robots that we use in the library. The color paper will help us restock our supply as we use it all of the time to give our projects that extra pop of color.
