My students need basic classroom supplies such as books that they can read on an independent level. We need pencil grips to work on our fine motor skills!
The kids at my school come to school each and every day energized and ready to learn. We are located in the great state of Nebraska. Our school is not a Title I school, so funding for extra supplies is not in the budget. There are students with family serving in the military, students who are English Language Learners, and many more.
The students love to read and need more books that they can read independently.
Kindergarten is an important year of school for the children.
It is the first year they are working together as a team, so every child can succeed!
My Project
We need pencil grips so the children can master writing sentences and letters with more stability and pressure. The books are fractured fairy tales which allow the children to compare and contrast different stories that they are familiar with. The books about red and orange help us learn our colors with great literature.
The transportation and farm animal counters let the children sort, classify, count, and make patterns during math rotations.
They show the children that we can sort by different attributes such as: color, size, shape, and others.
The fiction/ nonfiction paired books allow the children to practice new reading skills and strategies on books that are on their own independent level! The books also tie in to our science units with topics covering flamingos, lions, and insects. These books build the students' confidence and they love reading the books to others.
