Books, Games and Fun For Everyone!

My students need 15 high-interest books and four games to add to our Exploratory centers.

My Students

Excitement and giggles are a wonderful sound to hear as children explore new games and learn to cooperate and work together. In my class children often read and work in pairs. They play games that teach them strategies and problem solving while learning to cooperate and work together.

I teach 26 active inquisitive 10-11 year old children that love to read.

They recommend books to each other and often wait in line for new books. Our school has a monthly reading reward system based on minutes read. Students keep track of how many minutes they read each day and many of my 5th graders exceed 1000 minutes of reading each month. Reading is fun and very competitive.

My Project

We have an exploratory hour each week where students play games and work on cooperative projects. Cooperative learning is the norm in our school. Children work together and share what they learn. These games will be part of that hour. The books are high interest and will spark more excitement about reading. The graphic novels will encourage reluctant readers since they are titles that attract high level readers. They will be able to have conversations on the Greek Gods and Rick Riordian books.

These books and games will make learning fun and bring new excitement to my classroom here at the end of the year.

My 26 students will be so excited to open the boxes and pull out new books and be able to add new games to our Exploration centers. These materials will add a new spark to the class and make everyone want to read the new books as soon as they come in.
