My Students

My students are thriving young performing artists. They are exploring all aspects of performance from music literacy, character development, solo performance, and ensemble experiences. Performing arts experiences encourage collaboration.

Meeting students with 21st century, real-world learning opportunities is essential to providing relevance in a traditional performance ensemble.

I share this idea with my students often. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle.

Our school is in the heart of a community that supports education and knows its value. Students are motivated and engaged. Students are eager to learn; they embrace a challenging work environment and express the desire to be the best in all endeavors.

My Project

Students will utilize print material to discover their voice in theatre/performing arts. From their readings, students will cite textual evidence while writing and exploring events and people that have shaped all mediums of art. Students will also participate in, in-class scene studies with the requested resources. Through the collaboration process students, writings and ideas will be discussed and combined to create informative projects that go beyond performance in an ensemble-based class.

The print material listed would definitely increase student perspective and knowledge of people and ideas that have shaped arts and culture in our society.

The amount of funding provided for fine arts is often limited. Finding alternative funding sources helps to stretch the fine arts allocation. Understanding the value of performance is crucial for young artists. This project will definitely help enhance my student performances.
