My Students
My students love to be active learners. They are very inquisitive students who want to know the ins and outs of everything they interact with. Usually when I pick my students up to begin class, they each have something they just can't wait to share with me ranging from how excited they are to make ice cream, a hands-on project that turned liquid into a solid, to how a big brother helped one student with her homework last night. Each student is so excited to be at school.
Sometimes this excitement makes me forget the environments that most of my students survive in while they are not at the school building.
Some students have no help with homework at home because Mom works overnight in order to ensure they have a safe place to live. These families are struggling, but my students still put on smiling faces each and every day when they walk into my classroom.
Due to the pandemic I am missing those faces each and every day. Many of my students are without technology in order to connect to our class and books to help encourage their love of reading.
My Project
These materials will be used to send home with students to do guided reading instruction with them. This set comes with 130 different book titles that range from beginning readers to 1st grade level texts. This will help meet the wide range of needs for my Virtual learning students. With 6 books of each titles, this allows me to place my students into smaller groups to help with differentiated instruction. Currently I am unable to provide texts to my students that are differentiated to better meet their needs. Virtual learning has been challenging for everyone, especially trying to meet the diverse needs of my students. With this resource I will be able to better meet ALL the needs of my students.
