This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Adults know how powerful book clubs can be, so why can't we give our students that experience.

My students come from a low income community, but that doesn't stop them from giving their all in learning.

They love to experience new things and are especially passionate readers. The trouble is, most of these children don't have access to books at home and our school doesn't even have a library. While I could assume parents will take their children the the public library, I prefer to be proactive and stock my classroom library with a variety of books at all levels to help foster their love of reading.

My Project

I am requesting a number of book sets to be used in literature circles. This means students will be put into smaller groups according to their reading ability and genre interests so they can all access literature at their level. This differentiated technique allows all my students to enjoy a book with their peers and gain a deeper understanding of the story.

When our class reads a story as one large group, there are some students that fall through the cracks.

Either they are not interested in the subject, or the level of the text doesn't meet their needs exactly. Please help us to implement literature circles and the book club concept in our classroom!
