Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We do not have a library in our school. Most of my students start 3rd grade without the ability to read or write fluently. They need to work very hard to catch up with grade-level books and content. Many of them do not have learning resources or school supplies at home; the classroom is their only opportunity to explore the joy of reading and learning.

Being able to read and write at higher levels not only improves students' chances of success but opens unlimited opportunities in life.

My classroom needs themed books that align with our new reading curriculum and build knowledge. It is much easy to comprehend a topic that you are familiar with. These books build students' knowledge on four different topics: ocean, space, immigration, and art.

All my students live in a poverty area in the city. I want to give them the opportunity to experience a beautiful and fascinating world when they come to school. This way, we will be providing all students equal opportunities to learn and thrive. Please help me to offer my students a classroom that every child in the world should have!

I read to my students every day. It is one of their favorite parts of learning. They sit on the carpet looking at me excited for another story or new information. I want my students to know that if they read they can create a better world and a powerful future for themselves.
