My Students

I teach a Kindergarten and 1st grade multi-age classroom at an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!

I am a first-year teacher needing some help to fill my classroom library with interesting and engaging books that will encourage students to fall in love with reading.

I have the privilege of teaching eager Kindergarten and 1st graders who love to learn all that they can in school. Teaching to love reading is one of my biggest jobs and to do that, I need to stock up my library with an attractive selection of picture books.

My Project

I have chosen many Caldecott Medal Award-Winning books with beautifully illustrated pictures. I have also selected several of my students' favorite series such as: Piggie & Gerald, Dr. Seuss books, Fancy Nancy books, and BOB Books. I chose multicultural books that will diversify our classroom library and show my students to learn about the world from different perspectives. This is especially important in my classroom because of our diverse population!
