My Students

Each day students take part in reader's workshop. Students have their own book box full of just-right books of their choice.

My students are twenty-one eager second graders!

In the few weeks I have known my students I have already learned they are excited about reading and getting new books! Our school is a large elementary school in an urban neighborhood. Close to 50% of our school qualifies for free and/or reduced lunch.

My Project

I am requesting an assortment of books to read during readers workshop including Eloise and Buzz Beaker! In second grade, students spend a lot of time reading book series such as Elephant & Piggie, Katie Woo, Mr. Putter & Tabby, and Buzz Beaker. We also dive into nonfiction books where students learn about insects, animals, and more! Providing more books for students to choose from in our classroom library keeps the excitement of reading alive!

Providing a wide variety of series books for my students to choose from helps each child fall in love with their favorite characters and continue their journey of becoming independent, life-long readers!
