My students need picture books to have my students learn behavior basics! Each book teaches students new social, emotional, and behavioral skills. These books will help create weekly lessons to build a strong classroom environment.
Everyday I get the pleasure of teaching nine amazing students, who learn in extremely different ways both behaviorally, academically and socially. My classroom is full of different learners and each one has different needs. We, and yes, I mean we are learning as we go and as I teach my first year in a community based life skills position.
One thing I have realized that my students are in need of are learning materials that will provide them success every day both academically and behaviorally.
Giving my students the materials they need to succeed, will not only help them become better students at school, but will help then learn behavioral coping skills, sensory strategies and life skills for their future. They continue to have unique needs but that does not make them any different than me or you. I make it my job to find out their needs and support them in order to have them reach their highest potentials.
My Project
My students work hard to learn many skills that do not come naturally to them through out the year on both academics and behavioral skills. This means that it is my job to create meaningful lessons that will teach them behavior skills they need in order to be successful in the classroom and in society.
In order to create meaningful lessons, I need classic picture books to help support my teaching of basic behavioral skills.
Each book on my list, are books that will support social skills, emotional skills, and behavior skills. With these books it is my hope that I can create meaningful lessons to build the skills they need to become successful students and citizens.
