My Students

The students that attend my school are extraordinary students who love to read. Many of the students here are reading below grade level and are reluctant readers. Many of our students do not have reading materials at home. By providing a book vending machine with diverse books, we can encourage kids to learn, grow, and accept one another! The demographics are diverse: Forty-eight percent African American, six percent Hispanic, forty-two percent Caucasian and a total of fifty-six percent are economically disadvantaged. Our students are capable and eager.

Let's give them an amazing opportunity to be exposed to various texts that will last many years to come!

My Project

The Hawks Nest is full of readers who we would love to reward with a trip to the book vending machine! This PBIS incentive will allow students to get a book of their choice and make reading fun, never a punishment!

The books will be used to fill our Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine works and reward kids for good behavior, good grades, and good attendance.

With the combination of vending books and our own personalized reward system, this project could bridge the gap between literacy and engagement.

"Have you ever heard of a book vending machine? The Global Vending Group’s Inchy the Bookworm Vending Machines have been making quite an impact on schools across the country. Anytime a new book vending machine is installed, the local news stations are all over it. You might be asking yourself, Why all this publicity for just a vending machine? Well, it is more than just a vending machine that dispenses books. It works as a perfect PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) reward system for any school looking to adopt a program of their own.

There are over twenty thousand schools nationwide in forty-four states currently implementing school-wide PBIS programs. With Inchy the Bookworm’s PBIS system, students are rewarded one-of-a-kind tokens, which they use at the machine to choose a book of their choice. The school faculty rewards students with tokens for following the guidelines of their PBIS reward system. You can even implement your own reward system with this Book Vending Machine. The options are endless, and the results show just how successful schools have been with using a PBIS program."
