This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Books are vital for a child to learn to read. Our new language arts program for second grade teaches the topics of ancient Greek civilization, ancient Chinese civilization, the War of 1812, western expansion, and cycles in nature. I would love to supplement the curriculum with literature that is written for children in shorter bursts of words. These books will help my students to understand the subject matter in this new program with less sit-and-listen time. The manipulatives will help my children see the life cycles and spartan helmet to manipulate them as we read so the can better understand the subject matter.
Literature books that supplement our curriculum will help my children to further understand the subject matter addressed in our newly adopted language arts program.
Building a library of books that relate to the new curriculum will better expose my students to these civilizations, wars, expansions, and life cycles. They will help me to better teach them.
