Books for My Readers

Help me give my students books that are interesting for high school students but that they can actually read. Hi interest, low difficulty books are a must!

My Project

My students are very new to the United States and in the earliest stages of learning English. They have come from all over the world and are now here, ready and willing to learn English. It is challenging to find books that are interesting for high school students while still at their reading level. I don't want to infantilize them, so I'm trying to build my classroom library with "hi-lo" books -- high interest with a low reading level.

Classroom libraries are essential for building up students as readers.

In my class, students read daily and independently. My classroom library has a small start, but to really maximize its potential, I need more books that students can access independently to build their English reading skills. I also want them to enjoy the books, so that's why these books will be a great addition to my classroom library.
