My 17 first grade students are the first group of students that I am able to call my own. More than 1/3 of students from this school come from low-income households. My school has a diverse student body with diverse student needs.
As a first year teacher, I am eager to open my heart for my students and provide them with the appropriate means to follow their inquiry!
My students and I have begun our Inquiry journey on Italy and Italian culture. My students have loved to study Italy thus far. As their teacher, I want to be able to provide them with books to continue their inquiry, while advancing them as readers!
My students have loved learning about Italy and the Italian language through their inquiry. With this project, I will be able to provide them with books to further indulge their inquiry and interests. All of the books selected in this project will foster their learning and intrigue them further.
When students are intrigued about another culture, how can you not take the opportunity to let them explore, learn, and love!
My students are constantly checking out "Strega Nona" from the library, with that being one of their only known texts referencing Italian culture. I wish to widen their literary horizons in order for my students to make even more connections within their learning. This project will allow me to provide a section in our library dedicated to our Inquiry based learning!
