My Students
My second-grade class is made of 27 amazing children. They range in diversity and ability. Some are autistic, and many receive special education services. We are a Title I school, and all of my students are from low-income households, so they all receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
Though their backgrounds have offered them little advantage, my students love learning, and they work very hard each day.
Their creativity inspires both myself and each other. I am consistently humbled by their tenacious spirits, their loving hearts, and their curiosity about the world.
My Project
Since school has started this Fall, I've noticed a significant decline in both my students' ability to read and their interest in reading. With this project, I'm requesting high-interest books for my students in the hopes that the titles will grab their attention and that the content will keep their attention. Whether they are interested in adventure or magic, friendship or battle, Legos or Star Wars, the books I've selected with this project will appeal to all the students in my class. I'll use the book bins to organize the books, and the bookshelf will store the bins at levels that my second-grade students can reach. Thanks in advance for your support!
