Books for My Book Lovers!

Help me give my students amazing books that are mirrors and windows, so they can see themselves in these stories, and floor pillows!

My Project

My third graders are avid readers! They love going to our school library to check out new books, as well as reading books from our classroom library. However, most of them do not have access to books at home, especially to books that they can find themselves represented in.

All of my students are Vietnamese-American and they need to see themselves represented in quality books!!

I have selected multiple titles that are wonderful examples of quality literature that will offer a mirror to my students. These books all have strong characters of Asian descent and I can't wait to see the look on my students' faces when they see them! I would love to be able to gift each of them with one book to keep. I also have requested two additional floor pillows for our classroom. These floor pillows are very popular in our class for independent reading time and for other learning times. Having two more would be a wonderful addition to our class of readers!
