This year I am in charge of instruction for two classroom sets of students, as we have decided to try a new approach in learning this school year, with a co-teaching model. I am blessed to have students coming from many diverse cultures and backgrounds within our classroom. There will be a focus on 40 students as opposed to an average of 17 each school year. I hope for students to have exciting learning experiences that help them grow as individuals in my classroom.
I will use new reading materials to address topics like kindness, equity and fairness in the classroom setting.
My goal is to setup a classroom environment encouraging all of these things by giving concrete examples and making connections to childrens lives.
We talk a lot about these words through the year but I would really like to have updated books that connect with what students are already thinking about and how they can use these books to apply them to their everyday lives. I try to build rapport with my students every year and this will be one more step in that direction!
