Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing 7th and 8th grade mathematicians in Yuma, Arizona. They are growing in how they understand concepts and what they wonder about the world. They do best with learning math when they have access to visual tools and supplies.

My Project

Adding a middle school means a lot of change for a k-6 campus, but students and staff have grown GSA to 8th grade.

Older students need books geared for them.

That means longer and more challenging texts, but also books that speak to the growing hearts and minds of adolescents.

These titles mix classics with brand new titles, all interesting to today’s young teen. These fiction books address real-world problems without preaching and give our middle school students a chance to explore their identities through reading. Serious nonfiction rounds out the collection.
