This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at our Title I school are from a low-income and high poverty neighborhoods in Tallahassee, Florida. All of our students receive both free breakfast and free lunch.
My students are beginning to read and get so excited when they can find a book that they can read on their own.
I love watching them realize they can read and there are books on their level. Seeing the joy on their faces can make my day! Will you join us in helping our students?
My Project
I have plans for these books to go in my classroom library. The children will be able to pick up a book when they complete their work and begin to enjoy reading.
Many of the books that are in our school are at a higher level and my kindergartners are unable to read them.
We are learning new words every week and the excitement of the children when they can read a new word in a book is thrilling.
With these books in my classroom, they will have many choices of books and they will be right there at their fingertips.
