Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach second grade at a two-way immersion school where both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers come together to learn a new language from one another. Our sweet, bilingual students are hard-working, kind, and a joy to teach. I am so proud to be their teacher!

Especially for Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to have books that feature Hispanic protagonists for my bilingual first graders.

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15-October 15. These books will also be used throughout the whole school year-not just in September and October. Many of my students are Hispanic, so I want them to have access to a variety of books with strong Hispanic role models and characters. These books will be placed in my classroom library for students to select during independent reading time, as well as used for read-aloud lessons with the whole class.
