My Students

This year will look a little different than last year, which looked vastly different than the prior years of teaching! Currently, our school is looking at a hybrid model for learning - meaning students will participate in both online and in-person learning and instruction. This presents a unique set of needs and opportunities for learning and teaching! I am looking forward to all the fun we will have this year in first grade, no matter the model, and know that I will do everything I can to provide the best educational learning experience possible to my students.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.

We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! These will continue as students work through distance learning, and are able to share their work back with us remotely!

My Project

This year looks a bit different in terms of supplies, materials, and needs. Students are learning at home at least one day each week, and they are flying through books! Given the constraints of COVID-19 and social distancing, books must be left to sit for an extended period of time before being offered to other readers in the classroom. Adding additional books to our first grade library will ensure that all students have the opportunity and access to enough books to keep growing their reading brains!

We absolutely love Pioneer Valley Books, and these texts will be a great addition to our library - students are familiar with the characters, and the topics are of high interest!

I've specifically selected levels of books that we have the greatest need to add additional texts. These books will be used during guided and independent reading, and students will have the opportunity to take the books home to continue reading each night as well. Additionally, our learners who are remote right now pick up book bags bi-weekly, and these texts will help make sure we have enough books for every reader.
