Our students come from a small school of 200 students in Maine. We have a variety of backgrounds. My students are creative, curious young minds. We live in a small community with limited resources. Our school population is more than three quarters free and reduced lunch.
I teach school counseling lessons to Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms and I also teach health to 2nd-5th grade students.
My classroom is used in a variety of ways, students come to my room for classroom lessons, group and individual counseling sessions. Lunch time is also a popular time for students to come into my room.
These books will not only teach skills for students to interact with their peers they will also help them become better people. All of the books that I have chosen have great messages to teach about topics such as bullying, kindness, manners and friendship.
These books will be used by a number of students in a variety of ways.
Students will be introduced to new topics as well as new books through classroom lessons. When topics are revisited from year to year students will be able to enjoy new books, not the same old books they have been exposed to year in and year out.
