This year's group of 23 first graders our room are diverse, kind, thoughtful, creative, reflective, and excited to learn. They come from many different backgrounds with many different experiences. They all have the desire to learn, among many other wonderful attributes, in common. They are a hardworking group of first graders who put all their effort into doing their best.
Whatever the subject, this class loves being able to share what they know and learn from others.
They are a considerate, curious, and kind group of kids who try their best every day.
My Project
This project would bring a collection of diverse books to the room. These books would be relatable to and would have characters who look like the kids in our room. While our classroom library now is rich in many ways we are in need of books with more diverse characters.
Bringing a diverse collection of books to the classroom is important in ensuring a globally minded educational experience for our first graders.
This class is kind, respectful, considerate, and curious. They both want and need books that represent everyone in order to understand the world around them. These books would immerse students in stories with relatable characters and teach them about people they may not have met too. Both are important in little learners who are respectful, curious, and globally minded.
I hope you will consider donating to this project. Please know any donation will make a big difference in many ways.
