I teach an incredibly DIVERSE group of students that consists of students who are on EVERY level of learning. I have high performing and special needs students. I teach at a Title I school, meaning we have the highest poverty. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are hard workers, sweet, and will make a difference in this world!
"Whatever you are, be a good one." Abraham Lincoln spoke these amazing words.
I love this quote for my students because they are all so different. Not just in their learning, but in each of their personalities. All of my students are good at what they do and that's all I can ask as a teacher!
Throughout my teaching career, I have seen how students latch on to the words of one book that they love. They use that book in reference to what their own struggles are. I want these books to inspire my students and help them grow.
Teaching from a book, rather than reading a story on a computer or from a piece of paper, allows for more confidence while reading, which is a skill that most of my students lack.
These books will help teach my students numerous concepts: theme, main idea, point of view, voice, vocabulary, poetry, conventions, and a great deal more.
