My Project

As a high school history teacher in a K-12 school for the deaf, I feel it is important to encourage my students to learn about history in a variety of ways. I’d like to add historical fiction and nonfiction to my classroom book collection, as a way for them to “escape” to the eras and events that we learn about in class.

One of the top ways to promote reading with teenagers is to ensure that they have access to books.

By expanding my classroom library, I can ensure that my students are surrounded by books, related to the content area that I teach.

Books in a history classroom can provide background, context, and, as my students would say, more drama to my content instruction!
