Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The last time my students experienced a "normal school year" was when they were in 1st-grade. This year, they returned as 3rd-graders! I noticed that it was not an easy transition back. Students shared that they were anxious, intimidated, and nervous about the 3rd grade content and expectations.

Boosting their confidence through academic achievement is one of my main goals!

I will continue to celebrate their learning, embrace their beautiful mistakes, and shine all successes.

Barrie Davenport once said, "Low self-confidence isn't a life sentence. Self-confidence can be learned, practiced, and mastered--just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better."

My Project

My 3rd-grade students are eager to build their reading goals this year! After assessing and conferencing with all students, they all mentioned that they wanted to work hard to improve their reading level. My library has mostly Fountas and Pinnell level I-P books; therefore, my students need lower-level books to practice reading at their level.

Physical books will help my students feel empowered, independent, and competent.

These books will make sure that students are practicing fluency, and reading high-frequency words. My students are ready to meet their goals and improve their reading levels with these books.
