My students need more books in our classroom library. I've selected an assortment of recommended novels that will fit the reading level and interest of my students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school supports the whole child. We are leaders in our district for restorative justice and mindfulness practices. My students are diverse, and their languages and cultures are celebrated, specifically through our wall-to-wall, two-way, dual language program.
Our school also receives Title I funding, so many of my students come from low income households.
This year our focus is on creating safe and supportive spaces in our classrooms to ensure that all children can grow and learn. We also have a grade level goal to improve math instruction.
My Project
As a second year teacher, I'm still building my personal classroom library. I hope to create a varied collection full of titles that are special to me and meaningful to my students.
"Books are sometimes windows, offering views of worlds that may be real or imagined, familiar or strange.
These windows are also sliding glass doors, and readers have only to walk through in imagination to become part of whatever world has been created or recreated by the author. When lighting conditions are just right, however, a window can also be a mirror."
-Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop
By creating a diverse library selection, I can spark and foster a love of reading in all my students.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
