My Students

My students are in a Collaborative Team Teaching classroom in a high-needs, Title I school. The children in my classroom are inquisitive and joyful! We absolutely love them and want them to have the best resources to thrive.

Our students are a combination of general education students and students with special needs.

Our students are making rapid progress in their reading development but are in need of higher level texts to continue challenging themselves. They love reading chapter books and learning about the world!

My Project

I am requesting high quality and high interest chapter books to support their reading development and content knowledge. Students will be allowed to "book shop" for chapter books to read independently in the classroom, with partners, and at home. Our current library does not have sufficient chapter books for all students to have the high volume of texts needed to practice daily with new reading strategies.

Kids read more when they have texts worth reading!

Without these books, our students are getting second hand, second rate access to literature. They deserve the best and having the best chapter books will enrich their minds and invest them in viewing reading as a lifelong learning and pleasure activity.
