This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A good book is hard to find. My students are always looking for new books to read and enjoy. They love to read and always want to borrow the latest and greatest books.
Our school is a public school located in an urban area of New York.
My students are a diverse group of 11th graders always looking to me for book recommendations. They enjoy finding new books, sharing their opinions and persuading each other to read "this book" or "that book."
My Project
By adding these new and current books to our classroom library, your donation will continue to inspire my students to read. These engaging texts will provide students access to books that are interesting, recent and above all, enjoyable. My students will have a variety of books to choose from and I will more easily be able to recommend books for students to read, as I will be able to give them a copy of the book with the recommendation!
With the increasing demands on school budgets, funds for classroom libraries are not a priority.
My students need access to these interesting and engaging books so that they can continue to develop and foster a love of reading. A skill that will help them become better readers and writers within the classroom, help to prepare them for college, and help to further a sincere, life-long love of reading.
