My Students

My students walk into our classroom, every day, full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and that they can do anything. I also want them to be prepared for the rigorous world ahead.

My students are always up for the challenge to become readers and writers.

Unfortunately, most of my students have limited resources outside of school and have never previously been to school. Lack of prior schooling makes it important that my students have many hands-on literacy opportunities to help foster and develop a love for reading.

My Project

The materials I am requesting for my students will help provide books that will allow students to reread, retell, and reexplore stories read aloud to them. Each day my students are read aloud during reading and writing instruction. However, many of these books are big books or presented digitally. Not having physical books for these stories prevents students from numerous learning extension opportunities.

Donations for this project will help put books on our bookshelves and into students hands, creating meaningful reading and writing learning experiences.

By allowing students the opportunity to explore books themselves they are learning how to be independent readers, thinkers, and writers. Getting these books to help support the curriculum needs your support to become a reality.
