My Students

My students live on the South-Side of Chicago, IL. Many of our students are affected by the lack of resources that are not available in their community. The need of these resources are prevalent throughout the community. School is a place where many families come to rely on for additional resources and exposure beyond their community and home environment for their child.

Our students are resilient even with the lack of resources at school and in their community.

They come to school every day with the willingness to want more out of life. My students have a strong desire to become productive citizens in the world. Additional support can change their futures. My students continue to yearn for knowledge to help them succeed not only in the classroom, but in life.

My Project

Help me give my students books for their book club! The books will allow students to expand their conversations and develop a understanding about others stories. Also, the books will provide an oppournity to expand their level of consciousness about events that have taken place in the world. These books have been selected with the book club student members in mind. The books will not only allow the members to learn but to grow as a reader all while learning how to appreciate someone's story.

Sharing a book with others is way more fun than reading solo!

It's more fun to read the same book with your peers, counselor, and it's a great way to have the readers get lost in a good book.

The bookmarkers will help students to keep their place while reading at home and school.
