Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My bilingual fourth grade students enjoy exploring books in both English and Spanish . They are unique because their brains work twice as much to understand two languages. My students need resources to strengthen their bilingualism. These students reside in the North-west side Logan Square neighborhood.
All of my students learn in two languages!
Being bilingual has so many benefits not only for the child, but for everyone surrounding them. This amazing gift has enabled them to understand the world in two different languages.
My Project
These books will help increase students' biliteracy and enhance the classroom library with a variety of titles. My classroom library will be filled with books that students can read in Spanish and English at their level. With these new high- interest books, students will be eager to choose books at their independent level. The best way to increase biliteracy is to have students reading in two languages. Students will be able to buddy read and experience these titles together. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind including their reading levels and interest. These books will be an excellent addition to an increasing bilingual library.
