My Students

I teach an amazing group of 26 first graders in rural Kentucky. My students enter the classroom each morning excited to see what new activities we have planned. The students love to try new activities and are always willing to give their best.

One hundred percent of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students come from various socioeconomic backgrounds, and many of them only have access to technology at school. Despite these hardships, my students are eager to use technology, explore and be successful.

My Project

I am trying to update my classroom library with high-interest books for my first graders. Reading is the most important thing we do in first grade and it always helps to have books that the students can get excited about.

All students love to read it's just a matter of finding the right material to spark an interest in reading.

I have selected a variety of high-quality books that I think will last for years to come. I am a firm believer in reading out loud to students at all age levels. Not only will it help build a love for reading and learning but it helps to build language skills, imaginations, and listening skills.
