Help me give my students some quality, culturally responsive books! These are texts specifically chosen from a culturally responsive text list to help encourage a love of reading among students.

My Project

Most of my high school students fall somewhere between a 3rd and 6th grade reading level. These materials are going to support our unified effort to increase reading interest and stamina.

The best way to increase reading stamina is to get kids reading stories that matter to them.

These books were specifically chosen for just that. Most of the books I am requesting were pulled from a culturally responsive text list, featuring authors and stories designed to represent multiple cultures, ethnicities and experiences.

In my classroom, I started incorporating independent reading into our weekly rhythm, but we just need more books! Our library is filled with old books in rough shape that are mostly repurposed textbooks or texts that have no relevance to my students. Help me encourage and cultivate a love of reading with my students!
