My Project
AP Capstone is a two-year program based on two AP courses—AP Seminar and AP Research. In AP Research, students develop and use skills that they can use in any discipline, such as critical thinking, collaboration, conducting research, and public speaking. Students build upon what they learned in AP Seminar. Students explore an academic topic, problem, or issue of interest through a year-long research-based investigation to address a research question.
The skills my students learn and use in this program are so valuable and applicable!
My students have a variety of interests. Some topics include textile-based art, serial killer psychology, anime, seasonal depression, religion in role-playing games, Hollywood movies versus other creators, and music. They need reference books for the types of research methods that they have chosen to conduct. Others have requested specific books to use in their content analysis. By the end of the class, students will have written a 4000-5000 word paper, presented, and answered oral defense questions about their research.
