Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Special Education teacher who loves to make sure my kids are always prepared for their day. My students love to learn and always try their best to stay focused during the day. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and strive to give them the best of me.
My Project
I am requesting copies of different titles of Dr. Seuss books. We love reading about Dr. Seuss and love to share stories with our families at home.
In honor of Dr. Seuss Birthday I would love to give my kids their own copy of book to share at home with their families.
We are also requesting some Dr. Seuss cups and pencils. I see students of many different ages and I would love to be able to give my young Kindergarten students a Dr. Seuss cup and a book to celebrate his birthday. I'd like to give the older kids from first to 5th grade their own copy of a book and a pencil and eraser.
