Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our high diversity, Title I school, we meet students "where they are!" For six and seven-year-old learners, that means books in our hands and learning to read!

We maintain that a physical book - paper and ink - is STILL the key to engagement and success for young learners!

But have you noticed how expensive books are? Today's school budgets just aren't diverse enough to meet every need in the classrooms of today. Paper books are costly and are often being replaced with electronic books. That's where you come in!

My Project

Although more students are leaving Kindergarten knowing how to read, there are still a select few that need good literature to read while they learn to read.

My students need leveled books to take home and practice their newly acquired reading skills with parents.

In our quest to "learn to read," predictable books are vital to recognizing common words and phrases. Leveled books will allow students to practice reading at their level. Once they "learn to read" then the true journey begins - they eventually "read to learn!" Isn't it exciting to know that you'll be a part of this journey?
