Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.

The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.

My Project

"Once upon a time lasts forever," Philip Pullman. Let them get lost in a book. Let them escape to new worlds and explore different cultures. Let them have conversations with a thousand new characters. Let their imaginations soar from between the pages. Let's give my students an opportunity to fall in love with a book. I love having books in our classroom library that my students want to read; it's just hard to buy them all myself. This basket of engaging books will bring my students so much joy.

A healthy classroom library is vital to education.

My students need a vibrant, modern and engaging classroom library. We read everyday--it's the most consistent part of our week. And my students crave it and need it. We are on our way to becoming great readers and your support is crucial to that goal. Thank you for considering our project!
