Books Equal Success In Second Grade

My students need books, such as Flash,Crash, Rumble and How Big is a Foot, in a center to improve reading comprehension and improve the quality of their written responses.

My Students

My students are ready to read and learn about their world. We are learning about fiction and non-fiction. New books engage all reading levels.

My students are very active and curious about the world around them.

They need a variety of materials to enhance a new curriculum. We are a small community school with diverse needs. The students need differentiation to meet different levels of reading ability.

My Project

My students will be engaged in reading throughout the day using the requested books, such as Inch by Inch, Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday, and The Best Vacation Ever. These books with subjects and topics that are cross curricular. Students will be able to understand, discuss, and write about topics they will read. They will be able to connect to multiple texts for understanding.

My students will be able to read, comprehend, and write a quality response and this will help them be diverse learners.

Students will be able to apply this new learning as they work independently in class and at home.
