My Project

These books will help round out my classroom library, so when students go to pick their book, they find one they love! I have chosen books that have various protagonists in various settings with various problems they must overcome. It is my hope that every student, no matter how reluctant of a reader, will find a book that interests them.

It is well-known that students are more likely to read on their own if they are reading something that interests them!

All of the books on my shelves have been chosen with my students in mind--their interests, their backgrounds, and their reading levels. I choose books where the protagonists look and live like my students, AND I choose books where the protagonists do NOT look and live like my students, so they have an opportunity to walk a mile in someone else's shoes, if only for a moment, if only while reading.

My students have such a beautiful and varied interest in the books they choose to read, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word!
