This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been fortunate enough to be touched so deeply or intellectually by a book that it caused you to have a life changing experience? As a teacher I've had the great pleasure to witness this occurrence firsthand. My goal is to continue to make this possible for all of my students.

My students attend school in an agricultural community.

Most of them live and have parents who work on a farm. Others come from the surrounding areas located within low income sections of the city. Needless to say, many of these children don't have access to the kind of resources that can truly enrich their lives.

My Project

Due to this amazing organization and the wonderful gift of literature from generous donors, my students will have the opportunity to delve into a world far beyond anything they have ever experienced. Through novels that cover such topics as the Holocaust, Great Depression, utopian societies, revolution, and the power of self-expression, these students will be challenged emotionally as well as intellectually. They will learn about the history that shaped, not only this country, but the world around us. They will become impassioned about topics they never thought about before, and they will grow and change collectively as well as individually.

Those of you who have taken an interest in this project are obviously lovers of literature, and people who know the power that comes from the kind of knowledge gained through the telling of a truly compelling story.

For this reason I know that if you do choose to fund this project you will walk away confident, knowing that your donations are helping to shape the lives and minds of the young students who will one day be the leaders of tomorrow.
