Having a room full of active pre-k students is a joy! Introducing my students to books and nurturing a love of learning is a dream come true.
I teach next to a 4th grade classroom and kindergarten classroom.
Having a classroom library shelf would allow us to be be book buddies with the 4th graders to foster a love of reading with the kindergartners! The library shelf would also allow my students to read books throughout the day instead of just when we visit the library. The future of Oklahoma is in my classroom!
Pre-k is the first school experience for most of my students. Our classroom is a home away from home where they can learn important life lessons. They learn that books are the doors to adventure, and they explore forgotten worlds and diverse characters.
A new bookshelf will give my students the opportunity to access books throughout the day.
I’ll teach my students to look at the illustrations and see where the story takes them! A classroom library can be used not only during our reading block but also along with our play centers. Students can practice being a teacher, a librarian, or even an author!
