My Project

I hated math is school. How many of us can say that or have heard it from others? For me, it is true. I didn't like math until one small moment in college. My professor (former elementary teacher) clapped her hands, walked up to the board, and said, "I love a good puzzle!" As someone who loved crosswords and mysteries, that is all it took for me to reframe how I approached math problems.

With this project, I would like to provide my students a new way to look at and think about our math concepts.

I find students gravitate to a good story more easily than to a math problem. It's something they can visualize, connect with, and understand concretely. While some math concepts can be more abstract.

I've gone through my math program and picked out the books suggested by the lesson. All the books listed will be connected to a specific math lesson. The bonus will be that we will also be improving literacy skills.
