My Students

I teach in a Title 1 poverty school where every student receives free breakfast and lunch. I'm the general education teacher in an inclusion classroom. This school year will be challenging for students as we have adopted a hybrid distance learning model which will require students to be on campus two to three days a week.

I want my students to be able to come back to school and be able to see and safely use the different materials in our classroom.

They have been doing distance learning for a semester already, and have had to adapt to not having physical resources. They need to be able to touch, manipulate, and have hands-on experiences.

My Project

My students have been reading online since last school year. They complain about not having books at home to read. I believe students learn to read better when they enjoy the books they are reading. Right now, most if not all of the books in our classroom library are older than I am!

How great would it be for my students to come back to face-to-face learning and find a classroom library filled with brand new books!

I would love for my students to be able to read new popular books with the option of reading them alone or with a partner. These book series will allow them to try out new books, or even fall in love with a series. With the amount of books available, I'll also be able to make sure the books are properly sanitized before they are put back into circulation.
