Help me give my students good read-aloud books to last all year long.
This project expired on June 26, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are creative and have an amazing imagination. They ask lots of questions and have many things to share with me about their lives. They come in every day with a smile on their face and they are always ready to learn. They love interacting during class discussions and doing hands-on activities.
Many of my students do not have what they need to be successful in the classroom.
Parents/guardians are unable to provide materials and resources for students to use at home. In Rock Hill, SC, I am a supplier of a lot of materials for each of my students.
In our class, I incorporate a lot of group work, whole brain teaching, and flexible seating. A lot of students struggle to read and write. I have a lot of support from my administration and other members of the school. They are an incredible group, and all they want to do is learn more and more. I am so thankful for my wonderful group of 2nd graders.
These materials are going to help my students because if we do not have a book, we have to listen to it read aloud online. This makes it more difficult for students to truly learn how a book should be read. They are listening to some people read aloud that have no expression or that are just being silly. An important part of 2nd grade is learning to read with expression and read books correctly.
With these books, I will be able to read with expression and explain the author's true purpose through 2nd grade words.
Throughout the year, the students listen to a read aloud and then respond to what they have read. Reading comprehension is a huge lesson that students in 2nd grade need to accomplish.
