This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading has become such a big part of our classroom. The centerpiece? Our classroom library. It has become a place where students want to be since we have fostered a love for reading. I want to continue to build and add more books that they want to read.

Kindergarten is such a fun grade and I want to bring a joy of reading to these students.

I want to find books that they are interested in and I hope that they can find joy in seeing books about their background and their cultures. It also helps that they can browse and select the books they want to read and I hope that they will choose these particular books and get excited about them.

I know these books will excite them and bring more of their interests in the classroom. It could be a book about their diversity or a classic nursery rhyme that they love. This will also help our English Language Learners; they love the repetition of nursery rhymes. It will promote language development and help them get confident with reading. By supporting our classroom, you'll be supporting our young readers.
